Festive Fun Run raises money for Albion in the Community

Festive Fun Run raises money for Albion in the Community

The Amex stadium was taken over by a crowd of blue and white Santas as over 300 people took part in a charity fun run for Albion in the Community (AITC).

AITC’s popular annual Seagulls Festive Fun Run was attended by 320 people and 17 dogs – the highest number of participants since the event began 4 years ago – taking on the 2k circuit around the stadium.

The event raises money for AITC’s award-winning work in the local area, which includes more than 30 regular football sessions for people with a disability and this year more than £4,000 was collected.

Runners of all ages took part in the unique fundraiser, which started with a warm-up inside the stadium led by Gully, the club’s mascot.

Mark Barkaway, who oversees AITCs fundraising activities said: “This is the fourth year we have held this special event and it’s amazing to see so many runners and Albion fans taking part and getting into the festive spirit. This event is so different to other Santa runs in having a football theme and being at the stadium. Every year the number of people taking part has gone up which shows how popular this event is with local fans.

“The money we raised from the run will make a real difference to the people we work with and we are incredibly grateful to everyone who took part. We’re already looking forward to welcoming everyone back to the stadium for our 2020 Seagulls’ Festive Fun Run!”
