SEND schools

A range of football and sports coaching programmes are available for Special Educational Need and Disability (SEND) schools and mainstream schools with a SEND unit.

Our sessions include a range of sports, from football, basketball and tag rugby, to hockey, volleyball, cricket and boccia – all adapted to meet the requirements of those taking part.

It’s a great opportunity to give young people with additional needs the chance to enjoy a wide variety of sports and in the last 12 months alone the charity has worked with more than 1,500 pupils at schools across Sussex.

We are currently able to offer three bespoke taster sessions to SEND schools in Sussex free of charge. The aim is to deliver these in a block of three to targeted groups within SEND schools.

By delivering sessions within the school environment, we hope to reach inactive participants and those not engaging in sport. This offer is provided with the support of the Premier League/BT Disability Fund.

We also have a free schools assembly programme – designed to both engage children with a disability in our work and to promote disability sport to a wider mainstream audience.

The assemblies are delivered by one of our disability ambassadors or coaches and, as well as showcasing an inspirational personal story, the assemblies also promote key messages around disability awareness while highlighting the opportunities which exist elsewhere within our disability programme.

This offer is again provided with the support of the Premier League/BT Disability Fund.

All of our staff are highly-trained and hold an array of qualifications, including BSL signing certificates and a range of disability-specific coaching badges.
