Albion in the Community teams up with Brighton Junior Golf to provide fun day out

More than 40 young people with a disability enjoyed a golf day with a difference as part of a programme run by Brighton & Hove Albion’s official charity.

Members of Albion in the Community’s (AITC) Gully’s Days Out club visited Brighton Junior Golf at

Hollingbury Park Golf Club in Ditchling Road for an afternoon of golf games and challenges, including the chance to tackle a specially-designed six-hole course.

Brighton Junior Golf uses a variation of the sport known as JOLF to provide young people and their families with a fun and exciting introduction to the sport. The approach focuses on three areas: play, learn and compete, and coaches at Brighton Junior Golf provide fun, engaging and age-appropriate sessions.

It certainly seemed to have the desired effect, with Gully’s Days Out members and their families thoroughly enjoying the experience.

The members were also joined by volunteers from American Express, which sponsors the Gully’s Days Out programme and provides volunteers for each of AITC’s supported days out.

Kenny Moor, who co-ordinates Gully’s Days Out at AITC, was keen to thank Brighton Junior Golf for hosting such an enjoyable afternoon.

He said: “Jolf is a fantastic idea and our members had an amazing time. You could see how much they enjoyed it and the feedback we had was brilliant. Our thanks go to everyone at Brighton Junior Golf for inviting us along and making it such a memorable visit. Hopefully it will be the first of many visits.

“Thank you also to the volunteers from American Express, who are always happy to lend a hand and ensure our members and their families get the maximum enjoyment from their time with Gully’s Days Out. Their support certainly is appreciated.”
