A chartered accountancy firm has teamed up with Albion in the Community (AITC) to help support its work across Sussex.

Plus Accounting, which is based at Preston Park House in South Road in Brighton, selected AITC as one of its charity partners for 2017/18.

That means staff will now be encouraged to take part in a range of fundraising events on behalf of AITC as well as volunteering with the charity, which now runs around 60 different projects and programmes throughout Sussex.

AITC is the largest provider of disability football opportunities in the area; runs an array of programmes that encourage young people and their families to adopt healthier lifestyles; works with more than 130 schools; provides free football sessions in some of the most-deprived parts of the south; and has a thriving further education department that is helping hundreds of local people of all ages access nationally-accredited courses and improve their job prospects.

Vicky King, marketing manager at Plus Accounting, said the decision to support AITC was an easy one. She said: “As a firm we like to partner with local charities and we are always looking to be inspired by those charities and the impact that they have on the local community.

“Albion in the Community does some brilliant work inspiring and motivating young people and their families to be physically active and providing opportunities for young people to play football, whatever their ability or background, particularly those that are disadvantaged.

“Partnering with such an active charity enables our team to get involved in a number of fundraising events throughout the year and gives them a chance to be part of volunteering opportunities and to understand the importance of supporting local charities and the positive impact such relationships can have.

“We are looking forward to getting involved with the charity and our team are gearing up to get stuck in.”

Steph Punfield, AITC’s community fundraising executive, said: “As a charity we are always incredibly grateful for the support we receive from local businesses and we are delighted that staff at Plus Accounting have chosen us as one of their charity partners.

“We are really looking forward to working with them and can’t thank them enough for choosing us.”
