Albion in the Community (AITC) teamed up with a Brighton Fringe performer to raise awareness of cancer symptoms during the festival.

AITC hosted a free performance of The Eulogy of Toby Peach show at Komedia Studio in Gardner Street, Brighton.

Peach, a theatre maker, performer and director, shared his own personal experience of cancer with the audience – from diagnosis to remission, relapse and treatment.

Sue Brown, who runs AITC’s Speak Up Against Cancer campaign, was delighted with how the event went.

She said: “Toby’s show was a thought-provoking and emotional evening and it was fantastic to see so many people come along.

“Toby illustrated perfectly how important the tireless work of the NHS and its staff is in helping to save people of all ages through its treatment for cancer. It was also a powerful reminder of the importance of early detection and how noticing the signs and symptoms of cancer as early as possible can significantly increase chances of successful treatment.

“Our thanks go to Toby for giving up his time to help and to everyone who came along.”

Speak Up Against Cancer is funded by NHS Brighton and Hove Clinical Commissioning Group and Brighton & Hove City Council Public Health.
