Young people aged between 16 and 18 can apply to study on either our futsal programme or our 11-a-side option.

Both programmes benefit from highly-qualified coaches and players are also given guidance and support by Brighton & Hove Albion legends Guy Butters and Danny Cullip.

A BTEC with Albion in the Community is an excellent first step on the way to a career in the sports industry and participants on our course have gone on to study at university, receive football scholarships abroad and be given trials at a host of professional football clubs.

Futsal

One of the fastest-growing sports in the world and the only form of indoor football that is officially-recognised by UEFA and FIFA, futsal is brilliant at showcasing close ball control and skills and is based around each player having a high number of touches each game. It requires quick decision-making, creativity and tactical awareness. It is a free-flowing game played as five-a-side, using hockey size goals and a size four ball.

Our futsal programme allows players to study towards either a Level 3 BTEC Extended Diploma in Sport (Performance & Excellence) or a Level 2 BTEC Diploma in Sport as well as playing regular futsal games against similar teams from the BTEC programmes run by other professional football clubs. The team competes in the Football League Trust South East League alongside the likes of Chelsea and Crystal Palace.

Lessons take place at the American Express Community Stadium in Falmer.

Scholars typically receive up to eight hours of futsal training each week alongside eight hours of academic lessons and our students love learning at the stadium and relish the chance to compete for the Albion’s futsal team.

11-a-side

Based around the more traditional form of the game, our 11-a-side programme combines studying towards a Level 3 BTEC Extended Diploma in Sport (Performance & Excellence) while developing his or her football skills.

The team play in the PLFA U19 Development League against the likes of Chelsea, Portsmouth, Tottenham, Crystal Palace and Watford and train three times a week.

Scholars on the 11-a-side BTEC course have lessons at the American Express Community Stadium.
