Brighton & Hove Albion fans are being given the chance to win two tickets to an evening celebrating the club’s Goldstone years.
The Goldstone Days… 20 Years On! takes place at the Theatre Royal on Monday 20 February and tickets have almost completely sold out – with just a limited number of sponsorship packages available.
However, organisers are offering two tickets for the show to the Albion fan with the most memorable or unusual souvenir from the Goldstone Ground.
The stadium closed in 1997 and many Albion fans took pieces of the pitch, stadium seats or other mementos with them following the final game, which was a crucial 1-0 win over Doncaster Rovers.
Now Peter Brackley, the renowned commentator and Seagulls fan who is helping organise the night at the Theatre Royal, wants to hear from any fans that still have those souvenirs from the stadium.
Mr Brackley said: “Plans for what should be an evening of fun, memories and merriment have been going brilliantly and we have a lot of former players coming back for the occasion, but one thing we would really like is to involve supporters.
“Anyone who has a piece of unusual memorabilia from the Goldstone days – or indeed, a piece of the Goldstone itself, please do get in touch with us so we can feature your souvenir in the show.
“The person with the most-unusual item will win two free tickets – and they may even be invited up on stage.”
A host of former Brighton players and managers have confirmed their appearance ahead at event, including: Alan Mullery, Peter Ward, Ian Mellor, Robbie Reinelt, George Parris, Andy Rollings, Brian Powney, Gary Williams, Brian Horton, Steve Gritt, Steve Foster, Gary Chivers, Garry Nelson, Kerry Mayo, John Byrne and fifties goalkeeper Eric Gill.
And the winner of the memorabilia competition and their guest will also win a photograph of them together with all the gathered Albion legends.
To be in with a chance to win the tickets to The Goldstone Days… 20 Years On! simply email details of your stadium souvenir to: firstname.lastname@example.org with the heading: Goldstone Days before the end of 15 February. The winner will be notified by email by 16 February.
Anyone who would like more information on the sponsorship packages available for the event should contact the same email address.
The Goldstone Days…20 Years On! is being organised by Peter Brackley and former Seagulls defender Guy Butters, with the proceeds being donated to Albion in the Community – Brighton & Hove Albion’s official charity.
